Leap Scholar / Test Prep
Acquisition tool for PTE test takers.
A PTE prep product I designed from landing page to mock test, built to convert paid social traffic and help students actually prepare.
20%
increase in NPS score after launch
72%
lead-to-enrolment funnel performance
30k+
students enrolled within the first cohort
What changed
PTE went from a gap in the product to a full acquisition and learning flow.
My decisions
I focused it on five things: landing page, dashboard, lessons, practice, and mock tests. Instead of trying to do everything.
Tradeoff
We made it easy to buy and easy to start, rather than showing every feature upfront.
Shipped
Landing page, signup, learner dashboard, video lessons, practice board, mock tests, and AI feedback.
Project story
Context
A growing market Leap wasn't serving.
LeapScholar helps Indian students study abroad. It was doing well in IELTS, but PTE was growing fast. Especially for students going to Australia, the UK, and Canada. And there was nothing built for them.
Role
End to end: research to live product.
I led the design from the paid social landing page all the way through to the product: dashboard, lessons, practice, mock tests, and the teacher evaluation upsell.
Method
Research first, then a tight feature set.
We talked to first-time takers and retakers, studied seven competitors, and looked at pricing. The output was a narrow product built around the three things people actually cared about: lessons, practice, and full mock tests.
Process
Research to a tight, focused product.
- 01
Talked to first-time PTE takers and retakers about how they study, what frustrated them, and what would make them pay for prep.
- 02
Benchmarked seven competitors: Pearson, Preply, PTESkills, FutureLearn, Better Think, ApeUni, and PTEMagic. Looked at features and pricing.
- 03
Looked at where students were headed: Australia (56%), UK (43%), Canada (21%). And why PTE was their preferred test in each market.
- 04
Defined three core features based on what users actually needed: mock tests with AI scoring, video lessons, and quick practice exercises.
- 05
Designed the landing page as the single entry point from paid ads. Clear value, one CTA, no clutter.
- 06
Designed the dashboard, lessons, practice, and mock tests with a clean layout and a built-in nudge toward teacher evaluation.
