Kirana Club / App quiz
Designing a quiz-led retention flow.
A quiz competition that used everyday retail knowledge to bring shopkeepers back to the Kirana Club app.
Context
Turning everyday store knowledge into a quiz.
Kirana Club is for store owners. Indian Kirana League was a quiz inside the app about products, margins, profit, and ads.
Retailers already knew this from running their shops. We gave that knowledge a prize, a rank, and a reason to return.
Flow
We mapped the quiz flow before designing screens.
We mapped what happens after each answer, how scores work, when users can play again, and where sharing and leaderboards fit.

Familiar questions
The questions came from things retailers already knew: products, margins, profit, and ads.
Clear prize
A clear prize gave people a simple reason to play.
Small break
The quiz gave shopkeepers a quick, fun break during the workday.
Proven idea
Earlier quizzes had worked well, so we turned the idea into a larger event.
Design questions
The quiz had to be easy to start and easy to return to.
How do we make the quiz useful for store owners?
How do we make joining simple?
How do we get retailers excited before launch?
How do we know if people are coming back because of it?
Product screens
The screens made the quiz easy to find and play.
Each screen had a simple job: show the event, explain the rules, help users play fast, and bring them back.

Launch plan
The launch needed more than one post.
We used community posts, retailer creators, leaderboards, and finalist stories to keep the event visible before and during the quiz.
Before launch
Shared teasers and polls so retailers knew something was coming.
Creators
Worked with retailer creators who already had trust in the community.
Launch
Explained the prize, rules, and how to join through simple posts and Q&A.
During
Shared leaderboards, updates, and participant stories to keep people interested.
Finale
Brought top players into a live round and shared the story back in the app.
Experience flow
From app quiz to live round.
1
Retailers saw the league in community posts and app updates.
2
They played the first quiz round inside the Kirana Club app.
3
Scores and ranks gave them a reason to check back.
4
Top players joined a live second round on Zoom.
5
Finale videos and interviews were shared in the app.
Impact
Retailers joined, played, and kept following the quiz.
Retailers played, checked their rank, watched the live round, and saw other shopkeepers become part of the story.
